Ladies and Gentlemen

Good morning.

1. WELCOME & APPRECIATION
It is with great joy and deep honour that I welcome you all to Iganga High School for this historic Pass-out Ceremony of our Senior One and Senior Five students who have completed the Patriotism Development Course, 2026.

For God and My Country.

To our Chief Guest, RDC, thank you for finding time to be with us despite your busy schedule. Your presence confirms government’s commitment to raising a disciplined, ideological and productive generation. DPC, we are grateful for the security and partnership. Members of our Board of Governors – thank you for your policy guidance and for allowing Patriotism training to take root in this school.[Name]

To the trainers from the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps – Webale inho. In one week you have planted seeds that will bear fruit for Uganda for the next 50 years.

2. WHY PATRIOTISM AT IGANGA HIGH SCHOOL
Ladies and gentlemen, Patriotism is not a parade. It is not just marching and saluting. Patriotism is love for Uganda translated into daily action.

At Iganga High, our motto is “Strive for Excellence.” Excellence without love for country produces clever thieves. But excellence + patriotism produces doctors who stay in Uganda, engineers who build our roads without stealing cement, and leaders who serve without asking for bribes.

That is why when this program came, we said “Yes” immediately. We want to give Uganda students who are:

  1. Ideologically clear – They know where Uganda came from, 1962 to NRA liberation, and where we are going.
  2. Disciplined – They keep time, respect authority, and say “No” to drugs, alcohol, and early sex.
  3. Hardworking – They understand that “Mukama Mulungi, naye nga akooye” – God is good, but He blesses the hand that works.
  4. Healthy – They know their HIV status, they abstain, and they protect the environment.

3. TO OUR S.1 & S.5 PATRIOTS
My sons and daughters, today you cease to be trainees. Today you become Patriots of Iganga High School.

S.1 – You are 13, 14 years old. You are young, but Uganda is counting on you. The discipline you learned this week – waking up at 5:00am, making your bed, polishing your shoes – apply it to your books. A patriot does not come late to class. A patriot does not dodge lessons. March with your books the way you marched on the parade ground.

S.5 – You are the elders of O’Level. UCE is next year. The country needs you in University, not in prison. The drills taught you teamwork. Use that same teamwork in discussion groups. The ideology taught you Pan-Africanism. Use that same thinking to reject tribalism and sectarianism.

Remember your oath: “To love Uganda, to serve with discipline, to work hard, to reject corruption, and to protect the environment.” This is now your ID. Carry it in your heart.

4. TO PARENTS & STAKEHOLDERS
Parents, thank you for allowing your children to sleep in school for this training. Some cried the first night. Today they are standing like soldiers. That is transformation.

Help us continue this work at home. When a child is on holiday, give them duties. Let them dig, let them fetch water. A patriot is not lazy. When they ask for money for chips every day, remind them: “Patriots eat what builds the nation – posho, beans, greens.”

Board of Governors, we request that Patriotism Club be fully funded next Financial Year. These students need T-shirts, more drills, and community service projects. Iganga High must be the centre of Patriotism in Busoga.

5. APPRECIATION TO GOVERNMENT
We thank H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for this vision. We thank the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps under the Office of the President. You have given us tools to fight the new war – the war against indiscipline, corruption, and laziness.

RDC Sir, kindly convey our gratitude to the President. Tell him Iganga High School is loyal, and we are producing students who will protect the gains of the Revolution.

6. CLOSING CHARGE
To everyone here: Uganda’s future will not be built in State House alone. It will be built in classrooms like ours, in homes like yours, and in the hearts of these young people.

So I charge these Patriots: Go from here and be different. When others are dodging, you attend. When others are stealing, you return the lost pen. When others are cutting trees, you plant two. That is Patriotism.

I now officially present to you, and to Uganda, the S.1 & S.5 Patriots of Iganga High School, 2026.

Congratulations. Serve well.

For God and My Country.

Iganga High – Strive for Excellence!
Uganda – For God and My Country!
