Distinguished Parents / Guardians,
Members of Staff,
Student Leaders,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good morning.
It is with great honor and humility that I welcome you all to this year’s PTA Annual General Meeting of Iganga High School.
On behalf of the Board of Governors, the administration, and staff, I sincerely thank you for honoring our invitation. I know many of you have left your businesses, offices, and farms to be here. Your presence today is a clear testimony that you value the education of your children.
I SALUTATION AND THANKS*
First, I thank the Almighty God for keeping us alive. I thank the Board of Governors for their strategic guidance, the PTA Executive for their cooperation, my dedicated teachers who work tirelessly, the non-teaching staff, and you parents for entrusting us with your children.
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE*
Academically, we are making good progress.
many students joining public universities.
This year, we have strengthened our academic program through:
– Weekly tests and monthly exams
– Remedial and holiday coaching
– Career guidance and counseling
– Improved supervision of teachers and students
We are confident that UCE and UACE 2026 will be even better.
DISCIPLINE*
Discipline is the backbone of academic excellence. Generally, discipline is good. However, we have a few cases of:
– Use of mobile phones
– Absconding and late reporting
– Improper dress code and hairstyles
I appeal to parents to join us in guiding these adolescents. Please counsel your children at home.
DEVELOPMENTS / ACHIEVEMENTS IN 2026*
– installation of Digital cameras and time management systems
Construction of a modern dining hall
Renovation of Boys dormitory
Participation in MDD up to national level
CHALLENGES*
– Inadequate infrastructure – congested classrooms and dormitories.
– Limited textbooks for the new competency-based curriculum.
– Delayed payment of school fees, which affects daily running
– Some parents do not attend meetings or check academic reports.
APPEALS TO PARENTS*
My humble appeal:
a) Pay school fees promptly. The school runs on fees.
b) Provide all scholastic requirements to your children.
c) Monitor your children during holidays – check their books, control their movements, and limit phone use and night discos.
d) Attend school visitation days and discuss your child’s progress with class teachers.
e) Support our school projects – especially when called upon
*CONCLUSION*
In conclusion, Iganga High School belongs to all of us. Let us work together – Parents, Teachers, Students, and the Community – to make it a centre of excellence in Busoga and Uganda at large.
